Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau

Enjoy

At the Aurora Area CVB, we promote an outstanding travel destination centered around Aurora, the second-largest city in Illinois.
Here you can experience award winning Broadway musical theater, the largest waterpark in Illinois, Chicagoland’s largest outlet shopping center, a masterpiece of modern architecture, and unparalleled outdoor adventure on and along the Fox River.

Only 37 miles west of Chicago, the Aurora Area encompasses parts of Kane, Kendall, Will, DeKalb, and DuPage counties. Our visitor economy thrives on leisure, sports, and group travel, achieving over $268 million in tourism spending in the year 2022, which supports a local hospitality workforce of over 3,000 employees.

First exposure to the attractions and amenities available in the Aurora Area for many families comes via youth and amateur sports. Stuart Sports Complex in Montgomery, Illinois is a Fox Valley Park District property that ranks as one of the nation’s largest outdoor sports venues, capable of hosting as many as 32 full-size fields for flag football, soccer, lacrosse, and other field sports, as well as 8 flexible, lighted baseball/softball fields. Great Lakes Volleyball Center leads our inventory of indoor venues as one of the premier venues in the Midwest for competition-scale volleyball. We partner with athletic directors, park districts, municipalities, and private venue owners under the Aurora Area Sports Alliance brand to promote local athletic facilities to tournament directors and sporting events rights holders nationwide. We also partner with Chicago Area Track & Field to service large running events at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course.

Group tours and leisure visits are centered around major attractions like Paramount Theatre, home to the largest subscriber base of any theater nationwide, where Paramount’s award-winning Broadway Series productions are built, costumed, and cast from the ground up right here in Aurora, Illinois. Edith Farnsworth House, a masterpiece of modern design constructed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is visited by tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors each year. With a perfect mix of urban amenities and heartland charm, Aurora Area attractions cross the spectrum from unique outdoor concert venues like RiverEdge Park to a collection of 18 distinctive museums offering a range of experiences for visiting families. Finally, outdoor adventure on and along the Fox River—designated a National Water Trail in 2023—and agritourism at venues like Abbey Farms and Keller’s Farmstand highlight the year-round scenic beauty of our river valley region.
